The Manor House is located in the Village of Chillingham, a village in Northumberland, approximately 3.7 miles to the east of Wooler, south of Chatton.

Chillingham is famous its castle, renowned as the most haunted castle in the United Kingdom, and also its unique herd of wild cattle.  Chillingham is perfectly located for access to the Cheivots and the beautiful Northumberland Coast.
Chillingham Castle

Chillingham Castle is a 12th century stronghold is the home of Sir Humphry Wakefield and his family.  In the heart of Northumberland the castle was the first line of defence, preventing the Scots getting over the border to invade England back in hte days of William Wallace when the castle was ruled over by King Edward I.  Steeped in amazing, yet horrific history and that is why it is one of the most haunted places on Earth.

The castle is home to a number of ghosts, including The Blue Boy, Lady Mary, tourtured child, the Royal procession and so many other famous stories.  The dungeon and torture chamber are a site to be seen, with much of the torture implements in working order.  Why not join one of the castles ghost tours.
Chillingham Wild Cattle

The Wild Cattle of Chillingham are said to be the only survivors of the wild herds which once roamed Britains forests.  Today they live in a beautiful enclosed Park at Chillingham, their home for 800 years.

The herd numbers around 100 beasts, making them rarer than the Giant Pandas.  The unique beasts fight for the chance to mate, any weak members are gored to death.
The Cheviots

The Cheviots includes a large portion of the Northumberland National Park which is one of the least populated of all the UK's national parks put together.

The Northumberland Coast and Castles

The Northumberland Coast boasts more than 30 miles of spectacular beaches.  Seaside towns of Seahouses and Newbiggin by the Sea.  Take a boat trip from Seahouses across to the Farne Islands nature reserve where you can see the colourful puffins and around 23 other varieties of birds, and the islands colony of grey or Atlantic Seals.

If you're looking for castles then Northumlerand boasts more castles than any other counties in England, including Warkwarth, Dunstaburgh, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne.  Not forgetting Alnwick Castle and Gardens, in the market town of Alnwick.  The castle featured as Hogwarts in the first two harry potter films.
